Discover Dunkeld
Booming. Pleasant. Naturally Spoilt. Home of Wickens.
A tranquil arboretum, rugged mountain peaks and a fine-dining restaurant. Dunkeld is a town of striking contrasts and remarkable experiences.
Nestled at the foot of Wurgarri (Mount Sturgeon), the southern tip of the Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park and the Great Dividing Range is Dunkeld; a town that embraces its natural environment in all its magnificent shapes and forms.
Peacefully wander through the picturesque Dunkeld Arboretum. This sanctuary is home to native flora, tranquil billabongs and towering red gums. Meander along the tracks, across the bridges, through the labyrinth and place yourself on the pier to watch Mud-Dadjug (Mount Abrupt) alight in a red glow as the sun sets.
Spoilt for choice with hikes and panoramic vistas, Dunkeld affords you easy access to not one but four mountainous peaks; Wurgarri (Mount Sturgeon), Bainggug (Mount Piccaninny), Mud-Dadjug (Mount Abrupt) and Signal Peak. Dunkeld is also the southern gateway to the Grampians Peaks Trail. Varying in difficulty and length, there is a hike and a view for everyone in Gariwerd.
It’s a feast for the senses at the critically acclaimed Royal Mail Hotel; home of fine-dining restaurant, Wickens, and casual diner, Parker Street Project. Wickens at the Royal Mail Hotel was awarded 2 Hats in the 2019 Good Food Guide Awards, along with Regional Wine List of the Year with their 28,000 bottle wine cellar. Gaze upon the stunning backdrop of the Grampians (Gariwerd) while you dine and undoubtedly enjoy one of the most memorable and delectable food experiences in Australia.
With breathtaking Mud-Dadjug (Mount Abrupt) in the background, the prestigious Dunkeld Polo and the Dunkeld Cup take place annually at the Dunkeld Racecourse. These greatly-anticipated, highly-coveted and horse-focused days are a highlight for Dunkeld residents and a chance for visitors to meet the locals. The annual event calander offers varied experiences; the mountianier tackles the Serra Terror, creatives enjoy the Dunkeld Writers Festival and everyone loves the 3 Peaks Festival.
And with Dunkeld positively spoilt for choice with a variety of unique accommodation options, stay on and experience it all in Dunkeld.

Raised in the steep bush of Grampians National Park, just outside of quaint Dunkeld, the two sisters have always had a close connection to nature and sustainability, which underpinned their decision to create change in one of the most environmentally destructive industries. Their strong sense of responsibility for environmental preservation is inspiring, and their ethos of choose well and buy less, is simple but powerful.
