Gerard Murphy relocated his workshop and showroom to Dunkeld several years ago. Gerard designs and creates high-end furniture and giftware from a range of quality cabinet timbers.

The design ethic of Gerard Murphy Furniture draws heavily from visual cues provided by the Southern Grampians (Gariwerd). From the upward surge of a chair back mirroring the towering mountain ranges to the overall dominating appearance of a piece reflecting the sprawling Serra Range skyline, each individual piece has its own story and is a work of art.

The showroom/gallery in Dunkeld showcases a variety of original pieces, including dining tables and chairs, side tables, beds, bedside tables, coffee tables, nests of tables, sideboards, entertainment units and tall boys. Timbers include Red Gum, Victorian Ash, Tasmanian Blackwood, Marri, various Stringybarks and reclaimed Jarrah. Some designs use combinations of timbers, with delicate inlay work providing a subtle complementary effect.

Gerard has also designed an extensive range of beautifully crafted serving-ware and giftware: cutting boards, cheeseboards, knife blocks, rolling pins, fire pokers, letter racks, vases, trays, clocks and turned bowls, in a variety of timbers. These make distinctive gifts for weddings, birthdays and other special occasions.
