Hamilton to Coleraine Rail Trail
The Hamilton to Coleraine (or vice versa) Rail Trail is still a work in progress, well worth a visit for keen walkers and mountain bikers out there with a sense of adventure and a love of nature.
The first section of trail begins on the outskirts of Hamilton and journeys to Wannon-Nigretta Falls Road. This section traverses a number of working farms taking you through pleasant red gum country.
The second section commences on the Glenelg Highway, 250 metres, along the highway from the CFA shed in Wannon. Enjoy vistas of the open rolling hills, wetlands and low native shrubs as you find your way to the finish line on the outskirts of Coleraine.
Visitors can park at the Balkin’s Road rail crossing or at the pines located on Glenelg Highway road reserve near Balkin’s Road and Fairburn’s Rd intersection. There is an easy 1.8km ride down Balkin’s Rd to the rail line crossing where the current trail begins.
