Discover Branxholme
Meander through yesteryear.
A fascinating evolution of the volcanic landscape takes place every day in Branxholme, making it a perfect town to take a breather, slow down and feel free.
Nestled on Australia’s extensive volcano region, known as the Kanawinka, Branxholme sits at the crossing of Arrandoovong Creek on the Portland railway line.
Visitors are rewarded with a short stopover in Branxholme, The Heritage Park contains a timeline of the town and a pioneer’s wall with plaques commemorating early settler families of the region. The wall itself is a fascinating collection of basalt blocks carefully collected from the original homesteads in the district. An avenue of honour lines the park commemorating those who served in WW1.
A must do is a visit to the Branxholme Hotel, which was built in the 1870s to accommodate the rail passengers coming through town. The bar itself is decorated with authentic sharing memorabilia and warm welcoming smiles. Oh, and the annual Rodeo is an event to mark in your calendar – and a great celebration that’s as unique as Branxholme.
You will feel miles away from the hustle and bustle of life, and have time to actually stop and smell the roses in gorgeous Branxholme.
