Greater Hamilton’s waterfalls are extra breath-taking at this time of year with the extra spill and splash Winter downpours provide. Presenting two powerful local beauties, Wannon and Nigretta Falls are a must-see and must-explore during Wintertime.

- A Sunday drive – The Mirranatwa Gap Loop
It’s the perfect thing to do on a cold Winter’s day… Cosy up in the car, pop the heater on, turn the music up and let the sensational scenery surround you. The Mirrinatwa Loop Drive will take you through the striking Victoria Valley and up through the Grampians (Gariwerd) where you will be afforded outstanding outlooks like the Mirranatwa Gap Lookout. Keep your eyes peeled along the way too, wildlife sightings are synonymous in these parts.

- Brighten up your day with the Balmoral Mural
It’s bold, contemporary and sure to add a bright pop of colour to a gloomy Winter’s Day. It’s the Balmoral Mural. Spanning the side of Balmoral’s General Store, jump out and snap some photos with the spirited birds and bright flowers or simply enjoy the view from the comfort and warmth of your car. Either way, it’s a winning Winter activity.

- Wine and dine at the Penny Wine Bar
Stylish and cosy, the Penny Wine Bar in Penshurst comes complete with an open fireplace and extensive wine list. Sip and savour your way through some of the region’s finest, along with wines from further afield. You can also pair your Winter warming wine with a comforting feast from their in-house dining options. Best to book in advance to ensure you don’t miss out on your cosy spot.

- An ancient lava flow will warm you up!
Jump in the car and head to Byaduk and discover an ancient lava flow. At the Harman’s Velley Lookout, you can view one of the best examples of a lava flow constricted by a valley in the world, resulting in a striking group of features unique to Australia! And while in area, keep those legs moving and that body warm with a visit to the Byaduk Caves and Mt Napier.
